Foreign worker levy waiver and rebate extended for construction, marine shipyard and process sectors

The Government announced on 1 August 2020 that it will extend the support rendered to firms in the Construction, Marine Shipyard, and Process Sectors:

  • The Foreign Worker Levy (“FWL”) Waiver will be extended to December 2020
  • The existing S$375 FWL Rebate will be extended to September 2020

Foreign Worker Levy (“FWL”) Waiver

Under the Fortitude Budget, firms had 100 per cent FWL Waiver for levies due in June 2020, and a 50 per cent FWL Waiver for levies due in July 2020.

With the extension of this support scheme, firms will now enjoy full FWL Waiver for levies due in July, August, and September 2020.

FWL Waiver will be adjusted to 75 per cent for October, 50 per cent for November, and 25 per cent for December 2020.

Foreign Worker Levy (“FWL”) Rebate

Under the Fortitude Budget, firms had also been given rebates on levies for each work permit or S Pass holder at S$750 in June and S$375 in July 2020.

In addition to the S$375 rebate (replacing the existing S$90 rebate for each work permit holder), this Rebate will be extended to September 2020.
